Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in the central of Vietnam is a very attractive tourist place. The distance from Phong Nha to Da Nang is about 300km. If you would like to get to Da Nang from Phong Nha, you can see many options as below:
1. By Train:
When you want to travel by train from Phong Nha to Da Nang, you have to take the train from Dong Hoi to Da Nang.
From Phong Nha, you can catch a local bus/ taxi from the main street to Dong Hoi train station. There are about 10 trains operating on this route every day. We recommend taking any of the trains leaving around sunrise. Remember that you need daylight to have a chance to enjoy the beauty of Hai Van Pass.
The train from Dong Hoi to Da Nang takes around six hours. It costs 247,000 VND (11 USD) for a soft seat or 317,000 VND (14 USD) for a sleeping bed.

2. By Bus:
Bus is the most popular option to travel to Phong Nha to Da Nang. Unfortunately, there are no direct buses, so you have to change in Hue (about four hours into your journey). However, this won’t cause you any problems as your bus operator shows you to the next bus.
If you are booking with local agencies, we recommend Hung Thanh and Queen Cafe. Their bus leaves in the early morning from Phong Nha. After a 4-hour bus ride, the bus will make a short stop of one hour in Hue. From here it takes another 2,5 to 3 hours to Da Nang.
3. By Motorbike:
If you have time to spare and would like to have a chance to see all the various attractions en route from Phong Nha to Da Nang, this is another great transport option. Travelling at your own pace, you can discover some of Vietnam’s hidden gems, vibrant history and diverse landscapes. It is a much more personal experience, which you can, of course, tailor to your own needs and timeframe.
However, this ride is not for the faint-hearted or inexperienced. It’s approximately 300 km for this route, along busy highways and or steep winding mountain roads. That’s a lot of difficult driving!
4. By Private Car:
The journey from Phong Nha to Da Nang takes around 6,5 hours by car. A private car is definitely the fastest, most luxurious and comfortable way to make this journey. Having your own driver gives you the advantage of direct pick up and drop off at your hotel at whatever time suits you. You also have a chance to stop along the way to take a rest or sightseeing.
The price depends on how large a car you want, but expect to pay around 3,200,000 VND (140 USD) for a four to seven-seater car. This price includes petrol, road tolls and parking fees but excludes lunch and entrance fees to any attractions you stop at along the way.
